Expo 2020 Dubai Falconry Cup winners honoured at ceremony
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Falconry Association, attended the ceremony to honour the winners of the Dubai Falconry Cup Expo 2020 in Al Talwah today. More than 1,000 falconers and 500 falconers participated in the nine-day event.
His Excellency Rashid Bin Marhan, Secretary General of the UAE Falconry Association, said, “The Dubai Expo 2020 Falconry Cup, which promotes high performance, symbolises the renewal of the UAE’s sporting traditions and cultural heritage, guided by the vision of our leadership and the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Falconry Association.” The event was held at Expo 2020 in the presence of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE Falcon Association, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.E. Rashid Mubarak bin Markhan, Secretary General of the UAE Falconry Association and members of the Association’s Board of Directors, including Abdul Allah Ahmad Al Qubaisi, Demitan Sovaidan Saeed Al Kamzi, Salem Atek Al Muhairi, Abdul Aziz Sultan Al Ali, Mohammed Issa Al Khaili, Mubarak Saif Al Mansouri and Youssef Abdullah Al Ali.
The Falcons’ Secretary General thanked Expo 2020 Dubai for its support and sponsorship of the Cup, which reflects the country’s sporting heritage as an integral part of the UAE’s identity, rich history and culture. “I sincerely thank His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for gracing the ceremony with his presence, and my thanks go to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Emirates Falconry Federation, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners.”
The top three winners in all categories of the Expo 2020 Dubai Falconry Cup were announced at the ceremony. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the winners of the Expo 2020 Dubai Falconry Cup. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan announced the winners in the Sheikh category, while Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the winners in two other categories, including the general public category. On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Dean of Falconers, Obaid Salem bin Shann Al Ketbi, was honoured.
