Dubai South and Huawei develop smart transportation ecosystem together
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation Corporation and Dubai South, and Jerry Liu, CEO of Huawei UAE. The information was published on the Dubai government website.
Dubai South, the world’s largest integrated urban development project focused on aviation, logistics and real estate, has announced a strategic partnership with Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT) and smart devices. The new partnership involves the deployment of innovative digital technologies and solutions from Huawei to build a smart and resilient infrastructure for communications, data management, transportation, operations, security and other services in Dubai South.
His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin commented: “Dubai’s status as a global communications hub has been strengthened and achieved through relentless efforts to innovate and invest in advanced technologies. Working with Huawei enables us to create an aviation community capable of supporting sophisticated services to meet the demands of the future of transport and mobility. We are confident that our valued partners and customers will benefit from an advanced infrastructure that will enable them to offer the best services to their customers.
Jerry Liu said: “Huawei solutions are already deployed in some of the most prominent airport projects in the UAE. This partnership is another milestone in the development of Huawei solutions that support the growth of the regional economy with cutting-edge digital technology, backed by a robust cybersecurity system that can address current issues such as ransomware. Ultimately, this project will be a benchmark for other connected communities in terms of rapid digitalisation of the region.”
To create a dynamic, intelligent transport system, Dubai South plans to deploy a fully connected, high-bandwidth, low-latency private network for mass machine interaction, based on Huawei technology. Dubai South will also draw on Huawei’s expertise in developing a state-of-the-art integrated operations centre that centrally monitors and manages operations, traffic, security and other services. The two organisations will also explore innovative solutions to support mixed traffic, an intelligent transport system for autonomous and driver-controlled vehicles.
In addition, Dubai South and Huawei will consider collaborating on an AI-powered platform for various stakeholders such as aviation, logistics, education and training, leisure and hospitality, and other sectors for operational purposes. The two organisations will also develop and promote joint international cybersecurity standards to protect digital transformation projects.
Huawei aims to help customers in government, transportation, real estate, education, healthcare and hospitality accelerate digital transformation and reduce overall IT costs. By offering end-to-end solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects, Huawei is bringing the UAE closer to creating a fully connected, intelligent world.
