Dubai Racing Club dedicates its race meeting to #DubaiDestinations initiative
Dubai Racing Club has announced that the seventh race meeting at Meydan Racecourse on 1 January 2022 will be dedicated to the #DubaiDestinations initiative, which was recently launched to highlight the exceptional experiences, events and activities offered by the emirate.
Meydan Hippodrome, a prominent sports and tourism venue in Dubai, has a 1.6km long grandstand that can accommodate around 60,000 spectators. It also features one of the world’s largest screens which is around 100 metres long and gives spectators a good view of the races.
Meydan Racecourse attracts competitors and visitors from home and abroad to its races and championships, most notably the Dubai World Cup carnival and the popular Super Saturday evening, organised at the end of the carnival, in addition to the most famous racing event, the Dubai World Cup, which features elite horses and riders from around the world.
The first race night of the new year will feature seven races, including the UAE 1000 Guineas Trial, with the total value of all prizes exceeding AED 800,000. Each of the seven races of the day will be named after one of Dubai’s iconic locations, starting with the Etihad Museum maiden race and ending with the second Dubai Frame maiden race, with both races dedicated to thoroughbred Arabian horses.
Races for the horses will start with the Al Jaddaf Mile presented by the Future Museum, followed by four races bearing the names of Dubai’s tourist destinations such as Ain Dubai, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah.
Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmuk Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Racing Club, said that Dubai Racing Club is committed to supporting the #DubaiDestinations initiative as part of its efforts to further raise the profile of Dubai as a leading global destination in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmuk Al Maktoum added that Dubai’s leading position in equestrian sports worldwide has enabled it to become a unique sports and tourism destination. Various sporting events and activities held in Dubai, such as the Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse, attract tourists to the emirate every year. As one of the largest and most prestigious sports facilities in the world, the racecourse attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year who follow its events and races.
