The Ruler of Dubai meets the King of Belgium at Expo 2020 Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today met with His Majesty King Philip of Belgium, who is visiting the UAE to participate in Belgium’s National Day celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance was present at the Expo 2020 Dubai Sustainability Pavilion.
Welcoming King Philip, his wife Queen Mathilde and the accompanying delegation, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid highlighted the strong relationship between the UAE and Belgium. Belgium’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai provides a new opportunity for both countries to develop commercial, cultural and knowledge-based economic cooperation, His Highness said. On a broader level, the UAE looks forward to strengthening its strategic partnership with the European Union, building on the strong historical relationship between the two sides, he said.
The meeting discussed how the UAE and Belgium can broaden the horizons of economic cooperation in various areas, especially investment and technology. Both sides agreed that in order to boost cooperation, the two countries need to increase interaction and create more opportunities for the private sector of both countries to invest in each other’s markets.
Both leaders stressed the importance of spreading the values of peace and cooperation in the world and promoting openness and coexistence by encouraging constructive dialogue between countries and cultures.
The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airport, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline and Group, Chairman of Expo 2020 Dubai High Committee; His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum; His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance and Coexistence; other ministers and high ranking officials.
