RTA adds one year to operating life of limousines
The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA) has added one year to the fixed lifespan of registered limousines to be replaced between 2022 and 2024. The move is aimed at supporting companies operating in the sector that are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
The move reflects the RTA’s desire to support the private sector, as it believes in the important role of this sector in sustaining economic activity and realizing the ambitious vision of Dubai and the UAE as a whole.
There are four categories of vehicles that will benefit from the decision to increase limousine service life by an additional year, namely regular limousines, luxury cars, 7-seat family cars and long wheelbase limousines.
“The RTA attaches great importance to the integration of the public and private sectors and its role in ensuring the emirate’s economic prosperity. The move embodies the government’s vision of prioritizing support for the business community and making it easier to do business, which will also raise Dubai’s profile as a global hub for investment and trade,” said Adel Shakeri, director of planning and business development at the RTA Public Transport Agency.
The extension of the luxury vehicles reflects the dynamic flexibility of RTA’s approach to the challenges faced by its partners in the private sector and its commitment to finding solutions that increase their confidence in private business entities, as well as the promising prospects for Dubai’s economy.
“RTA is always looking to support its partners in a variety of ways. Given the circumstances in which luxury transportation companies find themselves, the RTA has decided to review the life of the vehicles, while adhering to service and quality standards, as well as current safety and security conditions. This step is taken in the context of the RTA’s goals to promote practice and business sustainability,” Shakeri added.
