Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan visits Strata Manufacturing
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum, first lieutenant pilot of the Dubai Police, visited the headquarters of Strata Manufacturing Company, an advanced manufacturing company in the UAE that produces composite structures for aircraft.
During the visit, Sheikha Mozah was briefed on the company’s efforts to support and empower women in the workplace and increase the emiratization rate, which currently accounts for 65% of the workforce. Women make up 88% of the company’s Emirati workforce.
Speaking during a tour of the company, Sheikha Mozah said there are many wonderful women in the UAE who set an example for other women with their leadership skills and professional achievements. Emirati women have demonstrated exceptional talents and skills in a variety of fields and have the ability to achieve world-class excellence in various sectors, including those based on innovation and advanced technology, she said. “Guided by the vision and directives of our leadership, the UAE has achieved transformational leaps in various sectors of the economy and areas of life. The nation’s progress and achievements are a real source of pride for its people. Emirati women have played an important role in making the country a world leader in several sectors,” said Sheikha Mozah.
She said Strata has made a vital contribution to the UAE’s efforts to become an important player in promising sectors. The company has provided unique opportunities for women to demonstrate their abilities in a field that requires a high level of technological and technical skills, professionalism and commitment to quality.
“Strata Manufacturing has set an example to other companies in empowering Emirati women and providing them with opportunities to succeed in the aviation sector. The company has an outstanding track record of promoting women’s professional development and gender balance,” she said. She noted that the strength and capabilities of Emirati women working at Strata Manufacturing have been instrumental in the company’s growth to become a leading global supplier of aerostructural parts.
Sheikha Mozah first took to the skies at the age of 12 during a flying lesson in the UK. Her passion for flying blossomed over the years, and she eventually enrolled in the Oxford Aviation Academy when she was just 17 years old. Her journey led to her becoming not only the first Emirati female commercial airplane pilot in the UAE, but also the first woman accepted into the Dubai Police Air Wing with the rank of First Lieutenant Pilot.
Welcoming Sheikha Mozah, Ismail Ali Abdulla, CEO of Strata Manufacturing, said she is an inspiring role model for Emirati women, who have shown remarkable determination to succeed in a traditionally male-dominated field. He said the company intends to continue its efforts to develop and empower the next generation of Emirati women leaders.
