#DubaiDestinations focuses on the emirate’s Art Season
At the directive of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the #DubaiDestinations initiative continues its campaign to highlight the exceptional experiences, events and activities of Dubai’s ongoing arts season.
Starting this week, the campaign invites residents and visitors to experience a variety of artistic attractions in Dubai – from exhibitions and festivals to galleries and art studios. The campaign will run until mid-April and will open new windows into Dubai’s diverse artistic landscape.
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, vice chairman and managing director of the Dubai Media Council and director general of the Dubai Government Media Office (GDMO), said: “Inspired by the vision of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make Dubai one of the world’s leading centers of art, culture and creativity, the #DubaiDestinations art season campaign will showcase different facets of Dubai’s uniqueness as an art destination. Taking place during the busiest period in Dubai’s art calendar, the campaign aims to highlight initiatives that have transformed the city into an “open art museum.” Artists from the UAE, the region and around the world have come to Dubai to participate in the Art Season, enriching its creative landscape,” she added.
At the directive of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed, the ongoing #DubaiDestinations campaign will focus on different destination themes throughout the year, the Vice Chairman of Dubai Media Council further said.
Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Authority for Culture and Arts and member of Dubai Media Council, said that the Dubai Arts Season has become an important part of Dubai’s creative life and cultural environment. With artists and art lovers coming to Dubai from all over the world, the Art Season has become a melting pot of various creative perspectives. In addition to stimulating new cultural dynamism, she said, the Dubai Arts Season also serves as a platform for partnerships and collaborations that support the growth of the creative economy. “Through this campaign, we also seek to encourage broad public participation in arts events and activities. This initiative has created many opportunities for the public to make new connections and engage with art and artists through workshops and discussions, which in turn fosters a new aesthetic in the Dubai community,” she added.
Campaign highlights this week include Art Dubai 2022; Rethink Art, art events at Expo 2020 Dubai and the Sculpture Park at DIFC.
Shaima Al Suwaidi, project manager at Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Dubai government’s media office, said art and creativity are key components of the experience Dubai offers. “Brand Dubai is conducting a comprehensive communications campaign, focusing on social media, to further raise the profile of artistic events and attractions featured in the #DubaiDestinations initiative, in addition to various other promotional activities,” she said.
This week, the #DubaiDestinations initiative is also drawing attention to the second edition of Rethink Art, organized by the Dubai Design District (d3) from March 8-13. Pushing creative and artistic boundaries, the innovative art program presents art exhibitions and installations, live performances and events, and workshops for all art lovers. Driven by a mission to “Rethink the Ordinary” and bring together creative talent for experimentation, innovation, collaboration and challenge, the latest exhibition will showcase emerging local, regional and global names in the art world.
Along with these events, #DubaiDestinations also aims to highlight the artistic attractions of Expo 2020 Dubai. The mega global event, which includes fascinating journeys highlighting the culture and heritage of 192 countries, also showcases a variety of installations and artistic creations.
The ongoing #DubaiDestinations campaign brings together a wide range of public and private sector stakeholders to showcase the emirate’s artistic capabilities. The initiative also brings together the emirate’s most talented artists, including influencers, photographers, digital media content creators, animators and videographers, to create exciting new content about Dubai’s art offerings.
