Business Excellence Awards: Ahmed Bin Mohammed congratulates the winners
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has announced the winners of the 28th Business Excellence Awards, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The awards, which honor the Dubai Quality Awards (DQA) and the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES), are designed to recognize outstanding achievement and commitment of businesses and institutions to implementing best practices and achieving organizational excellence and customer happiness.
At a meeting with the winners today at the Meydan Hotel in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, congratulated the 39 businesses and institutions recognized at the ceremony.
His Highness stressed Dubai’s leading position as a center of excellence in various sectors. He highlighted the emirate’s efforts to introduce a culture of excellence in every field, which has raised the city’s global visibility and enabled it to launch various innovative projects over the past decade. The recognition of excellence motivates the private and public sectors to intensify their efforts to achieve the highest standards of quality, he said.
At the virtual awards ceremony attended by more than 1,500 guests, 21 businesses from the retail, services, healthcare, hospitality and e-commerce sectors were recognized under the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES), while another 18 businesses from various sectors, including tourism, service-oriented organizations, business associations and industrial enterprises, won in various categories of the Dubai Quality Award (DQA).
Commenting on the event, H.E. Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Department of Economy and Tourism, said: “Excellence is embedded in Dubai’s DNA, and today, as the city rapidly enters a new post-pandemic reality, it becomes even more relevant. Dubai’s reputation on the world stage has been further enhanced by this forward-thinking approach, and we see this in many areas – strong economic recovery, leadership in tourism, attracting new companies, investors and talent. The award also continues to align well with Dubai’s vision and strategy as a future center for business and industry, a smart city and a digital economy.”
Congratulating the winners, experts, mystery shoppers and the DET Department of Business Excellence for their contributions to the march of excellence, Almarri added that through such proactive and collaborative efforts, Dubai has overcome the effects of the pandemic, opened up to the world in record time and welcomed the world to Expo 2020 Dubai.
Over the past 27 years, the Business Excellence Awards have selected more than 650 winners out of 22,000 entrants. In the latest cycle of the awards, the number of applicants increased by more than 10 percent and the net increase over the last 28 years has been more than 300 percent, demonstrating the level of consolidation of quality and excellence concepts achieved among service businesses and institutions across the UAE.
The Dubai Quality Award encourages and motivates organizations to adopt an international framework with best practices for excellence and recognition as an example to follow. The Dubai Service Excellence Scheme is a one-of-a-kind initiative to promote customer service standards in the business community to create a unique and memorable shopping experience in the UAE.
