Dubai South and IHC sign agreement to facilitate smart operational solutions
Dubai South, the world’s largest single-urban master development project focused on aviation, logistics and real estate, today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with International Humanitarian City (IHC), the largest humanitarian hub in the world. The agreement provides for the implementation of Masary, an electronic badge system, at IHC to track and monitor cargo within a secure network and ensure efficient management of the movement of goods.
The agreement was signed at Seamless Middle East by Giuseppe Saba, CEO of IHC, and AbdulBasit AlMarzouqi, director of Dubai South logistics district, in the presence of senior representatives from both organisations.
Giuseppe Saba praised the agreement with Dubai South, saying it will take IHC’s humanitarian shipments to a new level of efficiency and accuracy. He stressed the importance of the electronic badging system, saying: “Logistics plays a critical role in IHC’s operations and the e-ticketing system will improve the efficiency of the IHC community’s response to emergencies. It will save time in the handling of relief supplies and ultimately save the lives of people in need. We would like to see the signing of this agreement as a starting point for our partnership with Dubai South. Through this partnership we hope to continue to develop any tool or facility that will help IHC and its community achieve the goals identified by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum when founding IHC.”
Commenting on the agreement, AbdulBasit AlMarzouqi said: “As an outstanding logistics centre, we are committed to facilitating optimal intelligent operational solutions for our customers to ensure a seamless service and smooth flow of goods. Dubai South Logistics District will continue to expand its portfolio of offerings and address the increasingly complex challenges associated with the movement of goods. As such, it will promote best practices and create a dynamic, technology-enabled ecosystem that will enable our valued customers to thrive in this competitive market.”
Dubai South was launched as a Dubai government project in 2006, representing an emerging city of 145 square kilometres with a master plan based on everyone’s happiness. The city is identified as Dubai’s flagship urban project and is designed to create 500,000 jobs in an integrated economic environment that supports all types of businesses and industries.
Founded in 2003 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, IHC is the only non-profit, independent humanitarian free zone body that hosts a community of some 85 members, including UN organizations, non-profit and non-governmental organizations and commercial companies. The international humanitarian community in Dubai is made up of some 500 people representing some 80 nationalities, positioning it as the largest humanitarian hub in the world.
