Emirates wins awards for ground transport services
Emirates, known for its world-leading air transport services, also received recognition for its outstanding ground transport services, winning awards in several categories at the recent RoSPA awards ceremony, held for the first time in Dubai.
The only airline to win awards three years in a row, the Emirates team received gold awards in three major categories: the Fleet Safety Award, the Health and Safety Award, and the Leisure Safety Award. The team also added the coveted Health and Safety Team of the Year (Middle East) award to its record, for the second time in three years, demonstrating tangible results in operational safety, health and safety management system, and extensive COVID-19 precautions to ensure the safety of its employees and customers.
In the UAE, Emirates operates a fleet of more than a thousand vehicles to transport first and business class passengers, flight attendants, flight personnel and other employees to and from work, making an average of 2.5 million trips per year. It also introduces standards and protocols for service providers to transport premium customers to and from the airport in comfort and safety as part of its signature Emirates Chauffeur Drive service.
One of the many benefits for Emirates crew members is a special state-of-the-art airport shuttle service from their first-class accommodation. Emirates pilots are driven by a chauffeur between their home and the airport for their flying duties. Emirates and Dnut’s ground staff are also transported to and from work by ferry.
RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) is a British organisation dedicated to promoting and facilitating health, safety on the roads, at home, at leisure and in education around the world.
The annual RoSPA awards are judged by a panel of independent experts, with applicants required to provide convincing evidence of their health and safety management systems, including aspects such as risk assessments, safety audits and safety training initiatives.
In 2022, more than 2,000 applications were submitted for the awards from companies around the world.
