DAMAC Group provides scholarships for Emirati students
DAMAC Group and Knowledge Fund Establishment have signed a sponsorship agreement worth AED 20 million to support the Dubai Schools project. Under the agreement, DAMAC Group will provide scholarships to pay for the tuition fees of Emirati students, starting from the academic year 2022-23.
The scholarship funding will support Dubai Schools’ goals, which include providing state-of-the-art education to help a new generation of students keep up with the changing demands of the job market. It will also support Dubai’s efforts to harness cutting-edge science and technology to create a world-class education ecosystem.
The agreement was signed in the presence of H.E. Abdullah Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Schools Project Steering Committee, and H.E. Ahmed Abdul Karim Julfar, Chairman of the Knowledge Foundation, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council.
On the occasion of the signing of the agreement, Al Basti, a representative of the Dubai Schools Project, said: “There are clear directives from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed to redouble efforts to maintain Dubai’s global leadership in vital sectors.
“We are therefore steadfast in our support for the emirate’s education sector, which is the foundation for an innovative generation capable of anticipating and seizing future growth opportunities.”
Stressing that public-private partnerships have always been at the heart of Dubai’s success, Al Basti said the partnership between DAMAC and the Knowledge Fund Establishment could be a launching pad for the emirate’s education sector to grow further.
Julfar of Knowledge Fund Establishment said the foundation was keen to contribute to the development of the emirate’s knowledge-based economy, together with its private sector partners, to ensure that students receive a high quality education.
“We are committed to providing all-round support to students. As a member of the Dubai Schools Steering Committee, the Institution places a high priority on creating a distinctive educational and academic environment of the best international standards, in line with Dubai’s future plans,” said Julfar.
“The joint agreement with DAMAC will support the Government of Dubai’s vision of establishing a leading educational model in Dubai Schools as a beacon of academic quality with a distinctive educational experience that promotes the UAE’s national agenda,” Julfar added.
Hussain Sajwani, founder and chairman of DAMAC Properties, said the support provided by DAMAC Group to Dubai Schools is in line with its national responsibility based on a strong belief in creating a bright future for the next generation. He said the agreement reflected DAMAC Group’s commitment to society and human development.
Sajwani said: “We are delighted to be part of the Dubai Schools project to provide Emirati students with the skills and knowledge to keep pace with our thriving economic path and provide them with the knowledge to enrich their academic lives and participate in opening up new horizons and global opportunities for students.”
He added: “Public-private partnerships have long been a key pillar of Dubai’s human, social and economic development; and we are delighted to contribute to this educational partnership and equip today’s youth with the ability to face the challenges of the future.”
