Dubai Women’s Run comes back to Bluewaters Island
The ninth edition of the Dubai Women’s Run, the largest women’s race of its kind in the region, will start at 7am on Sunday 13 November 2022, organised by Plan Group B in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council and the Emirates Athletics Federation at Bluewaters Island in Dubai. The race covers 3km, 5km and 10km distances.
This year’s prestigious race, organised by Plan Group B in collaboration with the UAE Athletics Federation and Dubai Sports Council, will feature over 6,000 women from all walks of life in the 10km and 5km distances as well as a 3km fun run/walk. The event is open to women and girls aged 12 years and above, while toddlers aged 8 to 12 years can also participate accompanied by an adult.
The Dubai Women’s Run is the first initiative in the Middle East that celebrates the zeal and zest of women in the region, embodying their resilient spirit. The event has grown over the years, attracting not only local and regional, but also international participants.
Registration for the Dubai Women’s Run is already in full swing. The 6,000 participants, including women from all walks of life, different age groups and different cultures, are expected to be ready to take part in the event. Starting at 7am this year, runners will enjoy views of Dubai’s emblematic skyline and the Arabian Gulf as they pass through stylish Bluewaters Island, home to the city’s most original shopping concepts and attractions including the glamorous Ain Dubai.
Dubai Women’s Run has been a regular fixture on the UAE sports calendar since 2010, but returns for the first time since the Covid pandemic. The event has attracted many celebrities including renowned Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has confirmed his support for the event.
The vibrant day will be full of fun activities for the whole family, which will run parallel to the event. Families can add to their fun by attending an entertainment extravaganza that includes cultural performances, children’s activities and a DJ who will energise the atmosphere throughout the event.
Since Plan Group B took over the reins of the race in 2017, it has turned the event into the most promising and meaningful run for women in the Arab world. It has taken it to the point where it has become one of the most popular races on the international sports scene.
This year’s race has received the support of various entities, including reputable civil society organisations who will also be taking part in the Dubai Women’s Run in support of charitable causes in the UAE.
