Ain Dubai not to operate until at least 2023
Dubai has extended the period of temporary closure of the largest attraction – the Ferris wheel Ain Dubai: it will not operate at least until the first quarter of 2023. As noted by the ride’s operators, repairs are currently being completed and have been in place since March 2022.
The Ain Dubai Ferris Wheel on Bluewaters Island holds a special place in Dubai’s list of world records. At 250 metres in height, this giants wheel is unrivalled in the world. The upper reaches offer breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the restaurants, malls and residences below.
The Ain Dubai attraction first opened on 21 October 2021: it has 48 passenger cabins that can accommodate more than 1,750 visitors at a time, both day and night. It is designed for families, romantic couples as well as special events and parties such as dinner in the sky.
An entertainment complex is placed at the base of the attraction and the wheel itself has a huge LED screen. The air-conditioned booths offer views of the whole of Dubai, its man-made islands and the Persian Gulf.
Ain Dubai takes 38 minutes to complete a full spin and 76 minutes to complete two revolutions. Some of the cabins are equipped with bars (Ain Dubai Sky Bar), while others can be used to celebrate birthdays, engagements, weddings and other important events.
Bluewaters Island is a man-made island located opposite the Dubai Marina area. The area of the island is divided into five zones: residential, commercial, entertainment, hotel and beach. The shopping and leisure area has more than 200 shops, restaurants and cafes.
The Brass Monkey entertainment centre, the Italian restaurant Alici and the numerous shops are the most popular destinations on the island. A branch of the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum recently opened here. The shoreline at Bluewaters Island offers stunning views of the Dubai mainland and is, in itself, a reason to visit.
