Dubai PodFest to be held on 21 November
Dubai Press Club (DPC) will organise the second edition of Dubai PodFest, the region’s leading event dedicated to podcasting, on 21 November.
Dubai PodFest 2022 will bring together prominent podcasters, audio content creators and leading industry organisations, further cementing the city’s position as a key regional media hub and digital media development centre.
The second event will discuss the future of podcasting and new approaches to creating audio content as a compelling and financially sustainable product. Dubai PodFest 2022 will also look at new strategies to accelerate the growth of podcasting in the region and the role of media organisations in supporting the development of the industry.
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dubai Media Council and President of DPC, said: “Dubai PodFest is the largest regional gathering of its kind for podcasters, media professionals and other stakeholders in a rapidly evolving industry. The event further strengthens Dubai’s status as the city of the future and enhances its role in the region’s media development. Dubai PodFest reflects the city’s commitment to improve the quality of audio content in the region and leverage the latest digital media trends for media development. The second edition of the event will feature key companies specialising in the field who will share their views on the vast opportunities in the sector, heralding a new beginning for the development of podcast content in the region.”
Dr Maitha Buhumaid, Director, DPC, noted that audio content is a key pillar in the development of future digital platforms. According to the latest Apple Podcast data, audio content consumption in the region has increased significantly, indicating that podcasts are gaining popularity among Arab audiences.
This year’s event, held at the Dubai Press Club, is an opportunity for audio content creators to engage in a dialogue about shaping the future of the industry and creating the infrastructure needed to make it sustainable, against a backdrop of far-reaching changes in the global media industry.
Dubai PodFest 2022 will also explore ways to support content creators in expanding the reach of audio content produced in the region. It will also explore opportunities to partner with international podcasting platforms and launch initiatives and programmes that support podcasters.
