Dubai Esports Festival 2022 opens its doors
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, today inaugurated the first Dubai Esports Festival (DEF 2022). The 12-day DEF 2022 is hosted by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) in partnership with VSPN, a global leader in cybersport events and solutions, and presenting partner du.

Al Olama said this year’s DEF 2022 will bring together the largest number of top adult gamers in one venue, highlighting the status of the UAE and Dubai as the most competitive gaming destination. The event will bring together the world’s greatest gamers, developers, creatives and artists, allowing esports fans to meet and mingle with global gaming luminaries and industry leaders. DEF 2022 is the most exciting esports and gaming event in the Middle East, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a hub of innovation.
The dignitaries toured the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai, the venue for DEF 2022, which is open to the public from November 9 to 20. The festival kicked off with an overflow of attendees at Initiate Summit, a two-day ground-breaking B2B platform for knowledge sharing and networking for cybersport and gaming industry professionals, developers and creative individuals. DEF 2022 will be the foremost esports and gaming event in the Middle East, in line with Dubai’s position as a hub of innovation. The festival will be attended by global gaming celebrities, industry leaders, developers, creatives and artists. The festival will feature a host of events, concerts and competitions including the highly anticipated PUBG Global Championship 2022, GameExpo, PopConME, Initiate Summit, Wegz concert, regional tournaments and Minecraft Esports Schools Clash, as well as retail promotions taking place across the city showcasing the latest games and merchandise.
