First Group 7 Emirates Cycle Challenge returns to support children
The First Group 7 Emirates Cycle Challenge returns this year: 20 UAE cyclists have signed up to ride 550km over four days from 10-13 November 2022 to raise awareness and funds for child support and education programmes in partnership with Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and Rashid Centre for People of Determination.
Cycle Challenge is part of The First Group’s flagship programme, Enriching Young Lives, which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the world by providing access to world-class early educational and emotional support and opportunities they would otherwise be denied. Cycle Challenge was launched in December 2021 to celebrate the UAE’s golden anniversary and to raise awareness and support for the Rashid Centre for Purposeful People, which provides children and young adults with a hands-on learning environment and vocational training.
This year, the initiative will continue to support the centre as well as raise awareness and funds for Dubai Cares’ global early childhood development programmes, which provide children with access to quality education and learning opportunities that provide them with equal opportunities in life.
The ride will be attended by senior executives and entrepreneurs from across the UAE, led by elite and professional cyclists Sanchez “Samu” Samuel, a former Spanish professional road cyclist; Vitor Carvalho, a retired professional cyclist and former member of the UAE National Olympic Cycling Committee; Janez “Jani” Brajkovic, a Slovenian cyclist who finished ninth at the 2012 Tour de France and most recently rode for Adria Mobil; and Nelson Oliveira, a Portuguese professional road cyclist currently riding for the UCI WorldTeam Movistar Team. UAE residents are invited to follow the riders’ successes on the official channels as they tour the emirates and support the cause with donations at www.tfg7emirateschallenge.com.
