Fan zones to enjoy the sport season in Dubai
Although Dubai is playing the role of the ‘gateway’ for World Cup fans heading to Doha, the city will offer pop-ups, outdoor entertainment and several fan zones that will broadcast the games live.
Dubai is making every effort to ensure that residents and visiting fans can see and enjoy the global spectacle in the emirate’s vibrant venues.
Dubai Calendar, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the official platform for posting events in the city, has announced the allocation of football fan zones in Dubai. It invites all residents and visitors to celebrate the exciting tournament, which starts on 20 November and runs until 18 December, in a variety of locations across the emirate.
The BudX FIFA Festival in Dubai Harbour will be one of only six international flagship FIFA Fan FestivalsTM around the world. The others will take place in London, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Seoul. The fan zone, which can seat up to 10,000 people, will show all matches on massive 330 square metre screens equipped with 4D audio. Fans will also be able to enjoy live performances, DJ performances, food and drink, games and entertainment between matches.
For families, Expo City Dubai will feature one of the biggest football fan zones in the city. The massive football-themed fan city will be divided into two parts. The family space in Jubilee Park, which can accommodate up to 10,000 guests, will be open from 20 November. In addition, an upmarket area at Al Wasl, which can accommodate up to 2,500 guests, will open on December 3. As part of the celebration, Fun City will host exciting activities such as board games, penalty shootout activation and face painting for kids, as well as live performances by local DJs and food stalls.
The Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Hotel, located in the Dubai Marina area, will create a ‘mega fan zone’ for the tournament. The outdoor venue will have multiple screens and separate fan zones with various facilities. The venue will offer an epic view of Ain Dubai and there are no age restrictions or entrance fees.
The Square at ISD, an open-air venue located within Dubai Sports City, promises to provide an unforgettable match day experience for 5,000 football fans. Numerous giant screens will be installed throughout the square, providing a superb view from any seat throughout the tournament.
Football fans can visit a special fan zone on the beach – Zero Gravity – where all the exciting matches will be broadcast on a huge screen. Fans will be able to cheer on their favourite teams by scoring and defending goals during the matches.
Those looking forward to the most exciting football tournament can expect a lively, action-packed fan zone from McGettigan’s in the Dubai Media City amphitheatre. The fan village will be packed with food trolleys, entertainment for the little ones, football promotions and daily live music programmes.
JA Jebel Ali Beach Hotel’s vibrant Soul Beach, where the events and recreation take place, will be the setting for live football broadcasts. The open-air beach club offers the perfect mix of good music and delicious snacks, and if you add football to the mix, you’re in for an incredible sporting spectacle.
Enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the electric atmosphere when the Press Play multimedia platform takes over the state-of-the-art Precision Football space at Ibn Batuta Mall and turns it into a huge fan zone – Press Play at Precision Football, which can accommodate up to 3,500 guests. Visitors will also enjoy 14 live performances from UK grime artists such as Lethal Bizzle and JME and drum and bass band Rudimental.
Set against the backdrop of the magnificent Museum of the Future, the outdoor screen at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers will provide a stunning backdrop for watching the matches. Football fans who love luxury can enjoy a meal prepared by Chef Rainer Lüpfer in this awe-inspiring sports venue.
With menus from some of Dubai’s most renowned restaurants, The Football Park at Gate Avenue DIFC is an upscale fan experience with luxurious viewing options. This open-air venue will be an exquisite way for residents and tourists to enjoy the games, combining sports, entertainment and world-class restaurants.
Visitors will be able to enjoy exciting football matches at one of the most popular entertainment venues on the city’s beach. A renowned spot in Dubai to watch live sports broadcasts, Barasti will do its best to ensure that fans have an unforgettable experience.
The Soho Garden Meydan mega fan zone will broadcast all matches live on large screens, allowing visitors to cheer on their team along with thousands of fans.
