Dubai Run

Dubai Run to take place on November 20

Preparations are in full swing for Dubai’s largest free fun run, one of the highlights of the Dubai Fitness Challenge – Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, with residents and visitors preparing to take to the legendary Sheikh Zayed Road on 20 November. Runners of all ages and fitness levels can register and get the chance to run on Dubai’s famous Sheikh Zayed Road once a year.

The fourth edition of the Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, offers runners two routes to choose from: 10km and 5km. Both routes offer a once-a-year opportunity to run along Dubai’s famous Sheikh Zayed Road. The 5km route, suitable for runners of all ages and abilities, starts on Sheikh Zayed Road next to the Museum of the Future, passes the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Opera House and ends near the Dubai Mall. While the 10-kilometre route runs along Sheikh Zayed Street to the Dubai Canal, then back to the Mall and ends at Al Mustaqbal Street near DIFC. This longer route is more suitable for advanced runners.

Participants must register and obtain their official bib at several convenient locations: Ibn Battuta Mall (Indian Yard, next to the Elephant Clock); Dubai Hills Mall (ground floor, next to FitnGlam); City Centre Deira (level 2, next to the Aloft Hotel).

Hydration is a key factor during the Dubai Run and Mai Dubai will provide water stations at the start and finish, as well as along both routes, so that participants have access to water throughout the event. Mai Dubai is partnering with Dgrade to recycle bottles into eco-friendly clothing after the event, ensuring a sustainable future.

Last year’s Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, saw 146,000 runners, joggers, cyclists and walkers take part, setting a record number of participants and making it the largest public fitness event in the world. This year, even more participants are expected to turn Sheikh Zayed Street into a sea of green, with runners wearing Sun & Sand Sports T-shirts turning it into a sea of green.

This year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge offers the largest line-up of participants to date. The two fitness villages will host exciting and inclusive fitness events throughout the month: DP World Kite Beach Fitness Village and RTA Last Exit Al Khawaneej Fitness Village, 19 community fitness centres, plenty of sporting activities and thousands of free classes across the city.

Dubai Run is organised by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, with Mai Dubai as the lead partner, Sun and Sand Sports, Etisalat by E&, Fitbit and Emaar as association partners, Arabian Automobiles Co and Emirates Airline as official partners, Arabian Radio Network (ARN) as media partner, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Event Safety Committee, Dubai Police and Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as government partners.

Some roads will be closed to create Dubai Run routes and provide a safe space for people to enjoy the run. Contact the RTA for more information.
