Dubai Metaverse Strategy enters a new phase
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai High Committee for Future Technologies and Digital Economy, has approved the new phase of Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aims to develop the digital economy and implement measures to empower the metaciverse and future technologies.
The new phase of Dubai Metaverse Strategy was approved at the inaugural meeting of the Higher Committee for the Development of Future Technologies and the Digital Economy.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said that through the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate is set to become one of the world’s leading digital economies and a leading platform for innovation that can shape the future.
His Highness further said: “Through this committee, we aim to develop a new model for technology and futuristic science development with a particular focus on digital technology and the metaverse as part of our broader strategy to promote digital growth and innovation and achieve the goals of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy.”
His Highness has endorsed four key strategies aimed at leveraging metaverse technologies to deliver public services, as well as a comprehensive study aimed at identifying the social benefits of implementing metaverse services, which will be presented to the Executive Council for approval. The initiatives also aim to develop the skills of Emirati talent and build a large metaverse community in Dubai, including metaverse companies, start-ups, investors and users. Initiatives also include strategic projects involving partnerships with private sector players and activities aimed at making Dubai a hub for regional and global metaverse events.
In July last year, His Highness launched the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aims to transform the emirate into one of the world’s top 10 metaverse economies, as well as a global hub for the metaverse community. The strategy aims to build on the achievements of Dubai, which has attracted more than 1,000 companies in the blockchain and metaverse space. It also contributes to Dubai’s ambition to support more than 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030. This will serve to further develop Dubai’s economy and support the UAE government’s vision to increase the number of blockchain companies by five times the current number.
The committee also discussed plans to implement the Dubai Metaverse Strategy and the 100-day plan to coordinate government agencies and facilitate their contribution to the digital economy.
