RTA completes its education programme for students

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the training and qualification of 1,000 students through a distance education programme, which started in November 2022 and ended in January 2023.

The programme included various specialisations such as electrical and electronics engineering, engineering technology, natural sciences, software engineering, civil engineering, computer science and cyber security.

Adhari Mohammed, director of human resources and development at RTA, said: “The 1,000-student training programme is aimed at outstanding Emirati graduates to hone their skills in the future professions RTA needs to qualify them and enhance their opportunities. It also ensures that outstanding graduates are employed by the RTA.”

The programme included 27 engineering and future disciplines that the RTA needs, such as software engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronics, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and marketing. The programme also focused on areas such as infrastructure, smart cities, railway operations, foresight, asset management, cyber security, autonomous and smart transport, and project management. Students were selected from 7 universities, public and private educational institutions.

Specific criteria were set for the selection of students. Basically, students must be UAE nationals, the field of study must be within the disciplines required by the RTA, the period of study must not exceed 3 years, and the grade point average must be 3.5 or above.

The programme promotes the attraction and qualification of specialised national competencies, invests in the training and qualification of students, creates employment opportunities for fresh graduates by providing them with specialised job skills, creates a distinctive corporate reputation for the RTA and attracts outstanding students.
