Miss World 2023 to take place in the UAE
The United Arab Emirates will host the 71st Miss World beauty pageant in 2023, according to Miss World Limited chairman Julia Evelyn Morley. Although no date has yet been set for the event, it is expected to take place in May.
So far, 81 countries have confirmed participation. The winner of the title, Polish TV presenter, model and beauty queen Karolina Bielawska, will hand over her crown to the winner of the 2023 pageant.
The Miss World pageant was first held in 1951. Now, more than half a century later, the event has rightfully earned the title of the most prestigious and respected official international beauty pageant. Until the 90s, the Miss World pageant was held in the British capital of London. Later, the organisers decided to change the country of the pageant every year.
The contest consists of several stages, according to the results of which the jury selects ten semi-finalists. Five girls remain in the finals, from which the jury selects three winners: two girls receive the title of Vice-Miss World, and the winner of the contest becomes Miss World.
The winner is chosen over the weeks leading up to the final: points are awarded to girls from intermediate stages such as: sports, best national costume, charity projects, talent competition and even a multimedia competition. The points collected form the top 25 and then the top 10 contestants, from which the jury selects the three winners at the end of the intellectual competition.
Today, more than 100 countries take part in the competition every year, and the finals are broadcast live in more than 300 countries worldwide.
