Emirati people of determination to get AED 70 million
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Development and Citizens’ Affairs, has issued a directive to increase the financial allocation for social benefits for Emirati people of determination this year to AED 70 million.
The directives are in line with Dubai’s strategy of empowering people of determination, turning them into productive members of society and supporting their contribution to the emirate.
The social benefits covered by the decision include fees for kindergarten, school and university enrolment, training and rehabilitation in specialised institutions, as well as the cost of hiring shadow teachers, carers, personal assistants and sign language interpreters. Benefits also apply to assistive devices and technology, vehicle repairs, transportation and the cost of providing workplaces with facilities for people of determination.
Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority, said the move would help Dubai’s social benefits to reach more people of determination and promote their greater integration into society. She also noted that the rehabilitative support provided through the social benefits programmes is hugely beneficial to children with disabilities and reduces the financial burden faced by their families.
