Dubai Esports & Games Festival comes back
Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) is pleased to announce the return of the annual Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF 2023), to be held from 21-25 June 2023 at the Dubai Expo City South Pavilions. The festival aims to celebrate the video games industry, interactive technology-based entertainment and promote Dubai’s position as a global esports and gaming hub.
DEF 2023 will feature a host of events including an interactive consumer products exhibition, regional and influencer esports tournaments, influencer competitions, a smart business conference and a B2B networking event that will bring together companies from around the world. The festival will also include a GameExpo Summit powered by PG connects to provide a forum for regional leaders to discuss ways to further accelerate the growth of the gaming industry. The Play Beyond! – is a new addition to DEF 2023 and will bring together international authorities.
The educational programme will provide school and university students with a platform to explore how games and esports can nurture talent, share experiences and raise awareness of innovative future career paths for the next generation. Students will take part in an exciting Minecraft Education Challenge, exploring a map of Dubai. There will also be a MakeCode competition showcasing coding and gaming skills, culminating in a grand finale live at Expo City. Visits from influencers to the school, a day of cosplay and career talks from industry professionals will also be an exciting educational offering for students and parents alike.
The second GameExpo Summit, organised by PG connects in partnership with Steel Media LTD, which runs Pocket Gamer Connects events, will take place as part of the Dubai Esports and Games Festival. The summit, organised by DFRE, will highlight that Dubai is the fastest growing region of the international gaming industry. Current topics facing the gaming industry will be discussed, such as the new Metaverse, AI and Web3 technologies, the latest development techniques and trends, fintech and monetisation, and the unprecedented growth of the MENA market.
This year’s two content streams will feature over 100 speakers who will deliver a powerful line-up of discussions, speeches and workshops. The summit will feature ten tracks including Global Trends, Show Me the Money, Growth Track, Esports Innovation, Developer Toolkit, Incredible Indies, Live Ops Landscape, Monetizer, Education and Ecosystem, which is new for 2023, and Game Industry 101.
