Art Dubai 2023 becomes most successful to date
Art Dubai, the leading international art fair in the Middle East and Global South, has announced that the five-day event, held from 1-5 March 2023, generated a significant direct economic impact of AED143 million for the city.
New data presented in the Economic Impact Study by leading independent consultancy IPSOS also revealed that the famous art fair attracted a staggering 23,500 hotel night bookings to Dubai.
The recently announced figures show a significant increase in economic impact, exceeding the most recent comparable figures by more than 55% (up from AED 92 million in 2019). This remarkable growth reflects Dubai’s progress as a thriving cultural and creative hub and highlights its unprecedented growth as a global destination.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Art Dubai 2023 was the most successful exhibition to date. Over 130 contemporary and relevant exhibitors from over 40 countries participated, as well as representatives from regional and international institutions.
Art Dubai is the leading platform to see and buy art from the Global South. Through gallery sections of contemporary, modern and digital art, annual artist commissions and year-round collection and educational programmes, Art Dubai promotes art and artists. It has established itself as a regional cultural hub and an increasingly important meeting place for the art world of the Global South. The city has experienced rapid growth over the past 10 years and the fair now attracts a leading collector and institutional audience from the UAE, the region and internationally.
Art Dubai, held in partnership with A.R.M. Holding, was sponsored by Julius Baer, a Swiss wealth management group. The fair has also received support from HUNA, a property developer with a rich cultural heritage and partner of the event. The Dubai Culture Authority is a strategic partner of the fair and Madinat Jumeirah is providing a stunning venue for the event.
