Dubai launches new digital strategy
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai’s Executive Council, has announced the launch of the emirate’s new digital strategy. It is based on seven key pillars: digital city, digital economy, data and statistics; digital workforce; digital technology, infrastructure, cyber security and digital competitiveness.
The new strategy will train 50,000 professionals in digital skills. It will also help boost Dubai’s position in a number of rankings, including the UN ranking, and develop 50 new digital city projects. Of course, it is also about improving Dubai’s digital competitiveness.
Dubai has been undergoing a digital transformation since 2001, with digitalisation of public services now reaching 99.5%, with digital transactions accounting for 87% of the total. As early as 2021, Dubai’s government has gone completely paperless.
The city’s new digital strategy involves digitising all aspects of life in Dubai, as well as creating a new system that empowers digitally-minded people. Sheikh Hamdan stressed the need to take advantage of new technologies of all kinds, including artificial intelligence technologies.
The Crown Prince also unveiled a new version of Dubai’s official website, Dubai.ae, which serves as a unified and robust digital platform with access to a range of digital services from anywhere in the world.
