Ghadir Hamoud Al Kaabi rescues 24 people from the fire
A Dubai resident, a First Corporal named Ghadir Hamoud Al Kaabi, rescued 24 people from the burning house. He was an accidental witness to the fire: the flames were spreading very fast and had already engulfed two cars, a tent and an extension to the house.
Al Kaabi, who works for Dubai’s General Directorate of Civil Defence, reported the incident to the operational headquarters and rushed inside the burning building. The man was able to get the occupants out and also provided first aid to the injured before the civil defence team arrived.
For his heroic act, First Corporal Al Kaabi was recognised by the authorities. The award was presented to him by Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police Criminal Investigation, in the presence of senior officials and senior officers from various services.
Major General Al Mansouri expressed his gratitude to Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence, and all Civil Defence personnel for their dedication to the people and their round-the-clock readiness to tackle fires.
Al Mansouri also separately thanked First Corporal Ghadir Hamoud Al Kaabi for his quick response to the incident and saving lives. The First Corporal’s actions are an indicator of the high level of readiness of civil defence personnel for any emergency.
For his part, the hero said that his act is part of his professional and humanitarian duty as an employee of the General Directorate of Civil Defence and a UAE citizen.
