Rove Hotels to plant 28,000 trees
Representatives of Rove Hotels have pledged to plant one tree for every hotel room booked in Dubai between 30 November and 12 December 2023. The initiative by Rove Hotels will be realised in partnership with W&A Consular and Eden Reforestation Projects as part of the COP28 Climate Summit.
According to Rove Hotels’ Chief Operating Officer, Paul Bridger, the company is very excited to undertake such an initiative and plans to plant at least 28,000 trees by the end of 2023. This project reflects the company’s commitment to the environment. By planting trees for every room booking, Rove Hotels aims to set a good example and also supports the UAE’s move towards an eco-friendly future for new generations.
William Fison, founder of W&A Consular World, said: “This is a huge step forward in realising the vision we started to realise at COP26, and is the largest commitment to date for a not-for-profit initiative that aims to plant 1 million trees by COP28.”
As previously reported, 10,000 mangrove trees will be planted in seven regions of the United Arab Emirates in 2023. The initiative is timed to coincide with the year of sustainable development and is part of the country’s commitment made at the COP27 climate summit to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030.
The initiative aims to encourage people and communities to adopt sustainable practices and reduce environmental impacts. More than 2,000 volunteers have already registered to take part in the tree planting project and events will be held in Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
