Al Wasl Plaza dome sets Guinness World Record
The famous Al Wasl Plaza has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest interactive dome in the world. There are 252 laser projectors installed around its perimeter, which demonstrate a colourful immersive show with a 360-degree view, projected both from inside and outside the dome.
You can see the record-breaking show during a private trip to Expo City or by attending one of the upcoming events. The venue has announced a calendar of cultural events that will take place at Al Wasl Plaza. The programme includes high-tech presentations (such as interacting with the Al Wasl dome using augmented reality systems), festivals, sports and wellness initiatives.
From 8 December 2023 to 7 January 2024, the Expo City area will be enveloped in a New Year’s atmosphere. This Christmas, Santa and his elves are going to transform Expo City into a Winter Wonderland. Entry to Expo City, Winter Wonderland and Santa’s Grotto is completely free and even dogs are allowed, but some events and workshops will require tickets.
Visitors can take their little ones to meet the real Santa and Mrs Claus, have their photo taken with giant gingerbread men, see a snow globe in Al Wasl Plaza, take part in Christmas carols with a toy soldier band or go ice skating.
A 16-metre Christmas tree decorated with toys and garlands will be set up in Al Wasl Plaza. Organisers promise workshops on making gingerbread, wreaths and ornaments, as well as stalls with hot chocolate, mulled wine and pies.
The Mobility District will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland with an ice climbing wall, a zipline and a letterbox where you can drop a letter to Santa. Handmade gifts, such as a unique teddy bear from the Build-a-Bear workshop, will also be available for purchase at the fair.
