Unique installation to be shown in Dubai next year
As part of the 17th edition of Art Dubai, visitors will be able to see a unique installation by Canadian-Korean artist Christa Kim called Heart Space. The event will take place from 1 to 3 March 2024 at Madinat Jumeirah, with previews taking place on 28 and 29 February. The installation will be on display in the Julius Baer Lounge.
Through this unique digital piece, visitors will be able to communicate with each other in the universal language of the rhythm of the human heart. Heart Space works in real time, capturing participants’ heartbeats and translating them into patterns and shapes that are displayed on a dynamic LED canvas.
Artist Krista Kim expressed her gratitude to Julius Baer for realising her project, saying: “My hope is that each guest will feel inspired by its unique beauty, while appreciating the universal integrity.” According to Kim, she wants visitors to rediscover how similar the beats of our hearts are when they are actually heard and visualised.
This installation represents a continuation of Kim’s research into digital consciousness and the creative potential of screens as digital tools of wellbeing and peace.
Benedetta Ghione, Executive Director of Art Dubai, emphasised the importance of partnerships, especially with Julius Baer. “We are keen to collaborate, and are proud to work with the best in the field in partners that support digital art and artists,” said Ghione.
Art Dubai is the region’s leading international art fair. The fair will host more than 100 presentations of contemporary, topical and digital art from over 40 cities, offering a diverse and exciting experience for lovers of the genre.
