Sharjah Light Festival returns to Sharjah
The Sharjah Light Festival will return to Sharjah for the 13th time from 7-18 February 2024. This annual event promises to enchant audiences with dazzling displays created by world-renowned artists and projected onto the Emirate’s iconic cultural and natural landmarks.
The light shows will take place daily from 6pm to 11pm from Sunday to Wednesday and from 6pm to midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free.
The festival celebrates the city’s rich cultural heritage by literally shining a spotlight on significant buildings and landmarks that play a vital role in Sharjah’s daily life. This year, there will be more than 15 mesmerising light shows that will take place over 12 consecutive days at 12 locations.
The show near Sharjah Mosque will feature a three-dimensional visual display created as a sequence of brightly coloured, stylised architectural projections illuminating the facades and minaret of the mosque.
At the heart of Al Majaz Promenade, overlooking the city of Sharjah, will be the kinetic light installation ‘Waves of Reflection’.
The ‘Echoes of Al Dhaid’ light exhibition at Al Dhaid Fort will tell the story of the fort’s historical events through the play of light and shadow. It will also incorporate traditional cultural elements such as Ayala and Nashaat dances.
Other locations for the light performances include prominent locations such as Sharjah Police Headquarters, Al Noor Mosque, Beeah Headquarters Building, Al Hamriyah Market, Khalid Lagoon Waterfront, Al Rafisah Dam, Kalba Waterfront and Al Hisn Fort.
Last year, nearly 1.3 million people attended Sharjah Light Festival.
