Charity tower to be built in Dubai

Plans to build the tallest “charity” tower in Dubai have been announced – the skyscraper will be dedicated to the One Billion Meals food programme. The cost of the project has been estimated at 800 million dirhams (US$ 217 million).

The project aims to increase charity assets and maximise profits for the programme, which provides food to poor people around the world.

“We want our humanitarian work to continue for hundreds of years for the benefit of the people of the UAE. This project is a key step to increase endowment funds for the primary goal of protecting vulnerable people around the world from hunger,” His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said while reviewing the project.

He said the UAE aims to ensure the sustainability of humanitarian endeavours by creating a new model of economic development. Proceeds from real estate investments will be used for the food programme.

The 1 Billion Meals initiative was launched in 2023, during the holy month of Ramadan. It raised AED 1.075 billion in donations. The project aims to support malnourished people around the world.
