Dubai Mall sets world record

Dubai Mall officials announced on Tuesday that a record 105 million people visited the mall in 2023, a 19% increase from the previous year’s 88 million. The statement also said that following such incredible figures, the mall has become the most visited destination worldwide.

Furthermore, according to the released figures, Dubai Mall has already seen 20 million visitors in the first two months of this year alone, suggesting that 2024 will be a record year as well.

“These figures reflect Dubai Mall’s impressive status, and are testament to Dubai’s visionary leadership and strong economy. Our mall embodies the city’s vibrant spirit and commitment to excellence, bringing the vision of the management team to reality. As an integral part of Dubai’s economic infrastructure, we play a critical role in the city’s success and innovation,” said Mohammed Alabbar, founder of Emaar.

A key driver of traffic to the mall in 2023 and early 2024 has been events and promotions, as well as major festive events and international celebrations. Major events such as the Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Food Festival and the famous 3-day Super Sale further demonstrated the mall’s ability to attract huge crowds.

The mall’s digital footprint has also grown significantly, with its Instagram followers now standing at 1.3 million. The mall’s customer satisfaction score averaged 4.6, reflecting positive feedback from thousands of shoppers.

Opened in 2008, Dubai Mall is the second largest mall in the world with 1.2 million square metres of space. It has more than 1,200 retail outlets, including two major department stores, Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s, as well as more than 200 international restaurants.
