Best golf courses in Dubai
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has updated its list of the best golf courses where residents and visitors to the emirate can hone their technique.
The Address Montgomerie, located in the prestigious Emirates Hills neighbourhood, is home to one of the most luxurious and renowned golf courses in the Middle East, the Address Montgomerie Golf Club. One of the architects of the course is legendary golfer Colin Montgomerie, after whom the hotel was named. The 18-hole course is highly challenging with over 107 hectares, including 20 hectares of artificial lakes, 37 hectares of manicured gardens and 81 sand traps.
Dubai Hills Golf Club is Dubai’s newest golf club with an 18-hole course suitable for golfers of all levels, located in Dubai Hills. Its varied landscape includes rolling lawns, valleys, wadis and lakes, with the skyscrapers of the Downtown area glittering in the distance. The club also features a fully-lit driving range for practising long-range strokes.
Jumeirah Golf Estates hosts one of the world’s most prestigious golf tournaments, the DP World Tour Championships. Designed by Australian champion Greg Norman, the courses reflect the two natural elements of fire and earth. The club’s 12,000 square metre grounds offer all the conditions for golf, sport and leisure. The infrastructure includes a large swimming pool and a mini-pool for children.
Trump International Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course in the centre of DAMAC Hills. It was designed by world-renowned golf course architect Gil Hans, who designed the golf course for the 2016 Olympics, in the traditional Scottish links style. The 2,800 square metre clubhouse offers a luxurious gymnasium, beautifully landscaped swimming pool, fully equipped fitness centre and a large golf shop. The clubhouse features a TrackMan golf simulator and a 9-hole floodlit course, perfect for evening play.
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is one of the main attractions of Dubai’s picturesque coastline. The 18-hole championship course located here is over 6,000 metres long. Manicured fairways surrounded by coconut palms alternate with challenging water and sand obstacles.
Emirates Golf Club hosts the European tournaments Dubai Desert Classic and Dubai Moonlight Classic. Two 18-hole courses and a 9-hole course are a great choice for experienced players and beginners alike. The 18-hole Faldo course is a full-size course suitable for night play. A great option for avid golfers looking to improve their skills at any time. The Club is also home to the Topgolf sports and entertainment complex.
Jebel Ali Golf Resort is a 9-hole, par 36 championship golf course. The four different starting areas cater for players of varying skill levels. The course is located within the elite JA Jebel Ali Resort. Legendary golfers such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Greg Norman have played here at various times. The course is characterised by a unique landscape with exotic trees, shrubs and traditional desert flora. A marvellous view of the coastline and peacocks walking around will add to the enjoyable experience.
