UAE prepares for influx of tourists after Ramadan
In the United Arab Emirates, the number of bookings for tourist travel after the holy month of Ramadan has hit record highs, according to online travel portal Wego.
India, Egypt and Saudi Arabia were the most popular destinations for travellers as many expats seek to reunite with family for the long weekend.
Travel demand has also been boosted by the fact that this year’s Ramadan holiday coincided with the spring school holidays, so UAE residents can travel as a family.
Bahrain, Kuwait, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Oman, Turkey and Morocco were also among the most popular destinations for UAE travellers. There is a growing interest in countries such as Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and European countries as travellers seek a variety of experiences on holiday.
Along with this, the UAE is also expecting an influx of tourists during the Eid Al Fitr holidays. Thus, the number of requests for holidays in the Emirates increased by 149% compared to 2023 and reached 438 thousand.
Dubai International Airport is preparing for the peak season – the air harbour is going to serve 3.6 million passengers during the long weekend. The busy period will last from 2 to 15 April, while the busiest day will be 13 April, when passenger traffic will increase to almost 300 thousand people.
Dubai Airports Company is working with airlines and the rest of its partners to ensure passengers have a comfortable experience. On average, the air harbour will serve 258 thousand travellers every day.
Emirates passengers are advised to use the check-in service at home or at one of the city counters, while Flydubai passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least four hours before departure.
It is also recommended to utilise smart turnstiles to speed up the passport control process. All passengers should prepare the necessary documents in advance and familiarise themselves with the rules of the destination before travelling to the airport.
Luggage should be weighed at home and should also be prepared for inspection. Spare phone chargers and power supplies for electronic devices should be placed in your hand luggage. It is recommended to take the metro to the airport.
