Bubbles & Balloons’ festival takes place in Dubai
Bubbles & Balloons’ festival is back in Dubai. Running until 14 April 2024, Festival Plaza has been transformed into an entertainment hub for children, offering a host of workshops, live performances and ‘Piece de Résistance’ – a colossal dragon sculpture created from more than 30,000 balloons.
Guests can immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere as they get to know the many whimsical balloon characters standing throughout the shopping centre. Children can even take part in hands-on balloon figure making workshops led by renowned artists and take home their colourful creations.
The festival boasts that the masterclasses are led by respected figures in the balloon art field, including Guinness World Records holders, winners of numerous international awards and winners of prestigious competitions, each known for their contribution to the craft.
Mr Balloonatic, for example, made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for “Largest Minifigure” and “Largest 3D Balloon Fractal”. Doctor Bob won the “Large Balloon Sculpture Competition” in Italy. Colin Miles, a balloon decorating specialist, has won over 30 international awards and received the Don Cheeseman Award at Float 2022. Finally, Denise van Dooren, a Dutch entrepreneur, won the Blow Up competition in the Netherlands at Float 2022 with her balloon figurine.
To complement the celebration, Festival Plaza presents an interactive bubble show. A live performance combining science and fun will introduce audiences to the art of creating soap bubbles of all shapes and sizes.
Admission to Bubbles & Balloons’ festival is free, but you will have to pay for the entertainment.
