Many free gifts await guests of Dubai
Dubai authorities, wishing to make the emirate even more attractive for tourists, are ready to give travellers not only unforgettable experiences, but also very nice gifts and bonuses.
Any visitor to Dubai can get a free SIM card at the counter of any of the telecom operators when passing through immigration control at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The Du operator will issue a free tourist Du SIM, which is valid for 90 days. The SIM card comes with 1GB of free internet, valid for 24 hours. Operator Etisalat offers SIM cards for 28 or 10 days, while Virgin Mobile offers SIM cards for 7 or 15 days.
Apart from the sim card, every traveller can also get a free discount card there at DXB. This discount card can be used to take advantage of special offers on car hire, money exchange and bank promotions, as well as savings on beauty and health related products and services.
Tourists in the UAE are entitled to duty-free shopping if they spend a minimum of 250 dirhams on goods. It is necessary to pay attention to the Planet logo when shopping, and it is mandatory to obtain Planet Tax Free. You will need to show your passport before paying and make sure that the “Tax Free” tag is attached to the back of the receipt. Don’t forget that you must confirm your transaction at the airport within 90 days from the date of purchase and leave the country within six hours after the confirmation process is completed, otherwise the transaction will be cancelled.
In addition, tourists with special needs can take advantage of free public parking throughout Dubai for up to three months. The service can be applied for on the RTA website or app, or in person at any customer service centre.
Such travellers can also avail 50 per cent discount on taxi fares if they apply for a Sanad card. One can apply for the card on the official website of the Community Development Authority (CDA) or at the CDA Customer Happiness Centre. A passport, a clear personal photograph and a copy of a medical certificate or disability certificate from the country of residence will be required.
