UAE Cabinet issues calendar of public holidays for 2025
The Cabinet of Ministers of the United Arab Emirates has issued Resolution No. 27 of 2024 regarding public holidays – for the public and private sectors – for the year 2025.
As early as 1 January 2025, all employees will receive an official paid day off to celebrate the New Year. On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, after the end of the holy month of Ramadan, employees will receive a three-day weekend (1-3 months of Shawwal).
The official dates of the holidays will depend on the observations of the moon. The calendar of holidays includes the 9th day of the month of Zu al-Hijjah in honour of Arafat Day and the 10th-12th days of Zu al-Hijjah in honour of Eid al-Adha, as well as the 1st day of the month of Muharram in honour of the Islamic New Year.
The UAE public holidays calendar also includes the 12th day of the month of Rabi Al-Awwal in honour of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The 54th UAE National Day will be celebrated on 2 and 3 December.
Any of the official holidays mentioned in Article No. 1 of the Cabinet Resolution may be postponed to the beginning or end of the week, with the exception of Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. A public holiday cannot be postponed when it coincides with another public holiday or weekend.
