Sheikh Hamdan appoints 22 AI executives
The Dubai government has appointed 22 heads of AI direction to work in various government bodies.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, said.
“We have approved the appointment of 22 heads of AI in Dubai government agencies as part of a forward-looking vision to apply AI to improve the quality of government work. This initiative will accelerate progress and enhance Dubai’s expertise in this area, and reinforce its position as a leader in creating innovative solutions based on cutting-edge technology,’ Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum said.
‘The accelerated adoption of AI, along with the development of tools and applications based on it, represents the cornerstone of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to position Dubai as a global centre for the development and deployment of AI-based solutions,’ he added.
The newly appointed AI executives will work in various organisations including social development, government human resources, customs, police, judiciary, aviation, housing, electricity, water and other areas.
The move accompanies Dubai’s goal of becoming the city best prepared for the future and reinforcing its global leadership in advanced technology.
“The appointment of new AI leaders in the Dubai government marks the initial step towards realising our vision for the future of government work in line with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence). We are confident that these professionals will intensify their efforts and do their utmost to make our vision a reality. Their commitment [to the Blueprint’s goals] will be critical to turning our ambitious plans into concrete actions that will shape the future of AI-enabled functioning of the Dubai government,’ said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.
