Casino operator Wynn Resorts buys new plot of land
Wynn Resorts, operator of the United Arab Emirates’ first integrated gaming resort, has acquired a new plot of land on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah for future expansion.
The land in question is a 70-acre plot of land. Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, said that the height of the resort under construction has already reached 90 metres – when completed, the building will be the tallest in Ras Al Khaimah.
Wynn Al Marjanin Ras Al Khaimah is scheduled to open in 2027. The beach resort will be built on a 62-hectare island in partnership with Marjan and RAK Hospitality Holding and will be the first gambling resort in the Middle East.
Fifteen floors of the building have already been constructed and will offer 1,542 rooms and suites, including 22 luxury villas, a marina, as well as swimming pools and amenities on 3.6 hectares of land to accommodate guests.
Earlier in the day, the United Arab Emirates launched the website of the General Authority for the Regulation of Commercial Gaming – just days after the first official national lottery licence was issued.
The national regulator has published rules for commercial gambling. So, they are defined as any game of chance in which bets are placed on winning a certain amount of money or valuable items.
The new website outlines the future of gambling in the UAE, including the procedure for applying for gambling house licences, as well as plans for the development of slot machine networks and poker tables.
It is specified that it is possible to apply for a gaming licence from any of the seven emirates. The agency will regulate lottery companies, sweepstakes and casinos that practice games such as slots, roulette, blackjack, baccarat and craps.
