Mounted Police protect peace of Dubai residents
Dubai Mounted Police issued 107 fines and organised a total of 732 patrols in the first half of 2024, Dubai Police said.
Muhammad Issa Al Adhib, director of the Mounted Police Department, said the mounted patrols provide security and protect the peace of the emirate’s residents and help prevent crime.
For example, they have shown their effectiveness in apprehending suspicious persons, especially in narrow alleys where car patrols cannot pass.
In addition, the police patrol sports and recreational facilities, train riders and recruits, and provide therapeutic support for people with special needs.
Mounted patrols can be found in industrial areas, commercial districts and tourist locations, and not only detect wanted people but also vehicles. Thus, 107 fines were issued for traffic offences.
The Mounted Police Department donated 18 horses to Dubai residents, 1,114 people received riding training, and 69 people had the opportunity to ride horses and ponies in the desert. A total of 122 highly skilled and trained horses serve the department.
