Hatta marks opening of the longest mountain trail
Dubai authorities have announced the completion of the longest mountain trail in the UAE. The new trail, located in Hatta, is now open to the public. The attraction includes 21 bicycle routes spanning 53 kilometres, 17 walking trails spanning 33 kilometres, nine wooden bridges, 14 rest stops and service facilities.
According to Dubai Municipality, the trails are divided into four colour levels: green with four paths for cyclists and four for pedestrians, blue with six for cyclists and three for pedestrians, red with eight for cyclists and six for pedestrians and black with three for cyclists and four for pedestrians.
‘Hatta’s mountain trails are set in a varied landscape, with rocky routes, rugged peaks and valleys. All of them offer guests panoramic views and the unique natural beauty of Hatta,’ the administration said in a statement.
Dubai Municipality Director General Dawood Al Hajri said the trails were also designed to host international events and competitions: ‘We have improved public facilities and services to boost tourism in Hatta.’
Major infrastructure upgrades include car parks, toilets, bike hire and repair facilities, as well as picnic areas and rest stops.
‘Built using the latest equipment and materials that complement the surrounding Hatta landscape, the trails will provide cycling enthusiasts with a truly unique experience,’ said Mr Al Hajri.
