UAE Cyber Hockey Cup

UAE Cyber Hockey Cup concluded in Dubai

The UAE Cyber Hockey Cup, a unique tournament combining digital and real hockey, was held in Dubai from 26 to 29 August 2024.

The competition was held at the Mirdif Sport Society Shopping Centre with the support of the UAE Winter Sports Federation and featured four teams, Hors Media, Cyber Bedouins, White Sharks and Bon Bola.

The format of the tournament included two stages: a digital stage, using the rules of computer sport, and a physical stage, in which the teams competed according to classic hockey rules. This combination creates a unique spectacle for fans and participants, making the UAE Cyber Hockey Cup a special event on the sports scene in the Middle East and Africa region.

Teams first competed in interactive hockey on PlayStation 5, and the results of these games were transferred to the ice: teams took to the ice in full hockey gear with the score they finished with on PlayStation. This was the first tournament of its kind in the United Arab Emirates and was a real breakthrough in the world of sports and entertainment.

The Hors Media team was particularly notable for their high level of excellence and winning first place in the tournament. Their victory was a bright conclusion of the competition. The second place was taken by the companda ‘Bon Bola’, and the third – by ‘Cyber Bedouins’.

Recall that the definition of ‘Fijital’ consists of two words – it is ‘physical’ and ‘digital’, physical and digital sports. The concept combines sports in which players compete in a hybrid format – first showing their skills in the digital universe and then in the real world. In this way it is possible to test the physical fitness and digital skills of the athlete. There are already tournaments in fijital football, fijital racing and fijital basketball and so on, and recently fijital hockey is gaining popularity.
