iDeclare: Customs clearance at Dubai Airport now takes less than four minutes
The time it takes to clear customs at Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been reduced to just four minutes. This has been made possible by the introduction of the iDeclare system, which allows arriving passengers to complete a customs declaration form before landing in the country.
Now, instead of traditional paper forms, the declaration can be submitted electronically through the iDeclare online application. Passengers can, saving time and effort, self-declare commercial goods, personal effects or cash online as per the rules.
With the launch of iDeclare, Dubai Customs has become the first customs agency in the region to introduce smart mobile declaration for passengers. The development of the smart application was aimed at facilitating customs control at Dubai International Airport, which receives a record number of passengers year after year.
It is worth recalling that before the launch of iDeclare, the waiting time for customs control was about 45 minutes. Customs inspectors no longer need to fill in declarations on behalf of passengers, they only need to scan a barcode generated by the application on the passenger’s smartphone.
iDeclare also allows passengers to be aware of the rules that apply to the goods being declared. This initiative has proven to be an effective example of digital transformation and automation of customs processes and procedures.
