UAE residents urged to prepare for weather fluctuations
Residents of the United Arab Emirates should prepare for unpredictable fluctuations in weather conditions characteristic of the changing seasons, said Dr Ahmed Habib from the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM).
He said that during the off-season, temperatures will drop by an average of 5℃ between September and November, in addition to possible variations in atmospheric pressure and wind patterns. Cloudiness will also appear unexpectedly, with rain and fog possible.
The main feature of the season will be the abrupt change in weather conditions: one day may be clear, another day overcast. Humidity levels will gradually increase, increasing the likelihood of fog, especially at night and early morning, primarily in coastal areas.
In September, relative humidity in the UAE has increased compared to August and is around 49 per cent, causing fog and haze to form in different regions of the country amid lower night temperatures.
At the same time, the impact of the Indian monsoon depression is gradually weakening. At the same time, the UAE is under the influence of desert thermal cyclones formed over the Arabian Peninsula. These are accompanied by relatively strong winds that lead to dust storms and reduced horizontal visibility.
