Dubai invests US$ 545 million in new projects for Police Force
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of a number of strategic projects designed to develop the infrastructure of the Dubai Police.
The projects will have a total budget of Dh2bn (US$ 545m). Plans include the construction of a robotically-driven smart floating police station, as well as new training centres and a police academy.
The initiatives will aim to enhance security across the emirate. The authorities are also investing in specialised police training and improving the standard of living of law enforcement officers.
The new Dubai Police Academy building will be built in the Al Ruwaya 1 neighbourhood and will be able to accommodate 2,500 cadets. The 155 hectare site will house living quarters and classrooms, a medical centre and theatre, sports areas and a hotel for sports teams, as well as a training complex for police officers. The project will be commissioned in 2027.
The second project is a new training centre at the Dubai Police Academy in Hatta, scheduled to open next year. The training centre will include a sports complex, shooting range, residential and administrative facilities and offices.
The third project is called the One-Stop Centre for Crime Prevention and Data Analysis Systems, or Area 56, which will cost the police Dh300 million (US$82 million). It will use the latest digital technology to improve crime prevention, including in the areas of traffic and drug trafficking.
In addition, a residential neighbourhood with all amenities is planned for police officers in the Umm al-Daman area – it will include six buildings, two sports centres for men and women, children’s playgrounds, a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, a swimming pool and green areas. It is scheduled to be operational by 2026.
A new building for the General Department of Defence, Security and Emergency Response is also planned for the Al Ruwaya neighbourhood. Scheduled for commissioning in 2026, the project will include a training field, a lecture hall for 300 people, residential facilities, sports and community centres, and ample parking.
The police station in the Bur Dubai area will expand – adding a smart section, as well as a number of departments and a call centre. The seventh project is a forensic building and the eighth is a floating smart police station on The World Archipelago, 4 kilometres off the coast of Dubai. It will cater to fans of seaside holidays and water sports on a 24-hour basis.
