Abu Dhabi completes construction of Phenomena Abu Dhabi
A unique art project by teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is nearing completion in Abu Dhabi, which will become one of the main cultural institutions of the Saadiyat Cultural District.
The project is being realised in collaboration with Tokyo-based art collective teamLab. It will complement the art collection that now already includes the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, Manarat Al Saadiyat Gallery and Berkeley Abu Dhabi Arts Centre.
With the commissioning of the Zayed National Museum, the Abu Dhabi Museum of Natural History and the Guggenheim Museum, the capital of the United Arab Emirates will have one of the most outstanding museum collections in the world.
Saadiyat Island will become a cultural platform – a place where people can come together and openly exchange views. teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi will bring a vision of futuristic art technologies.
The project will be completed and open to the public in 2024, and visitors will be treated to a huge immersive space of 17,000 square metres.
The project will help expand people’s ideas about the planet and introduce them to the ideas of tomorrow. The main objective of the project is to stimulate human curiosity and develop imagination.
The exposition will explore the relationship between man and the world around him. The exhibits will evolve freely and organically as if they were life forms themselves. Phenomena will help develop critical intellectual thinking and open up a new world.
The design of the museum is inspired by Tokyo’s cutting-edge technology and Abu Dhabi’s urban landscape and natural environment, where innovation, nature and tradition are intertwined. In the museum, the relationship between the viewer and the artwork transcends fixed design.
