DET reminds about historical heritage museums in Dubai

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has reminded residents and visitors of several museums where you can learn about the history of the United Arab Emirates.

Thus, the exposition of the Al Shinagha Museum tells about the life style of the peoples who inhabited the shores of the Gulf. Here you can learn about the importance of maritime trade, see videos, historical photos and artefacts.

The Etihad Museum focuses on the period between 1968 and 1974, when the country was being shaped and moulded. The museum building itself embodies the history of the UAE: the curved white roof symbolises the page of the constitution, while the seven columns represent the pens used to sign the declaration of unification.

The Saruq Al-Hadid Museum contains artefacts found at the site of an archaeological site discovered on the edge of the Rub Al-Khali desert. The finds include thousands of iron implements and stone tools, as well as bronze utensils, gold and gemstone jewellery and other items dating back to the Iron Age.

The interactive exhibition even allows you to take part in your own excavations using a special simulator.
