UAE enters 2025 with new world records
The United Arab Emirates celebrated the arrival of the year 2025 with a bang. Festive fireworks and pyrotechnic shows were organised at 60 locations across the country.
The largest fireworks display took place at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi – the fireworks lasted for the first 53 minutes of the New Year. The pyrotechnic show was preceded by the performance of 10 thousand drones, in addition, 100 thousand balloons were released into the sky. The show’s task was to collect 6 world records.
The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE set two new Guinness World Records, including the organisers of Our Story in the Sky, a performance dedicated to the Emirate’s culture and heritage, who used drones to build the world’s largest figure in the form of a tree and a seashell.
The performance involved 1,400 drones, lasers and pyrotechnic equipment. The first part of the show focused on Ras Al Khaimah’s ecosystem, the second on maritime heritage and pearl mining, and the third on seafaring traditions. The grandiose performance ended with a fireworks display.
In Dubai, tens of thousands of spectators traditionally gathered around the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, whose facade also featured a pyrotechnic show with numerous visual effects. Seven New Year’s Eve fireworks were also used in the Global Village multicultural park in Dubai.
