Dubai to open women’s night beach
Dubai Municipality will spend 400 million dirhams (US$ 108 million) to improve the Al Mamzar Corniche beach with an area of 125 thousand square metres and a width of 80 metres. This is the second phase of the project.
It is planned to develop a dedicated women’s beach with night swimming facilities, a sports club, playgrounds, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and commercial areas will also be provided. The beach will be fenced, with gated access.
The beach improvement project also includes a 5,000 square metre space for seasonal events, a 2,000 square metre skateboard court and beach seating areas.
In June 2023, the first part of Al Mamzar Beach began to be landscaped: it covers 275,000 square metres, with beach widths ranging from 30 to 90 metres. The project includes a 200 metre pedestrian pontoon bridge, a 300 metre beach for night swimming and a 5 kilometre long pedestrian walkway.
The municipality will introduce video surveillance systems based on artificial intelligence technology, including for drowning rescue. In the future, the beach will be equipped with beachside restaurants, cafes and toilets with changing rooms. They will also build a car park for 1400 cars.
