Dubai Mall updates name and logo
Dubai Mall, Dubai’s largest shopping complex, has updated its name and logo for the first time in 15 years. The new name has already appeared on the facades of the huge building, and the logo now reads Dubai Mall Emaar instead of the previous The Dubai Mall Emaar.
The mall announced the name change back in January 2023, on the social network TikTok. It is now simply called Dubai Mall – without the article ‘The’. Earlier, the mall changed its name all over social media.
Despite the name change, Dubai Mall is still a favourite shopping mall for residents and visitors to Dubai. Social media users reacted to the news in different ways – some were delighted and others were saddened.
It is the most visited shopping and entertainment centre in the world, with over 100 million visitors annually. On its territory there are more than 1200 outlets, as well as more than 200 international restaurants.
The mall is a true fashion oasis. It houses 70 of the world’s high-end fashion brands, including the Middle East’s first department stores, Bloomingdale’s and Galeries Lafayette. The Fashion Avenue section showcases couture fashion from the likes of Versace, Burberry and others.
The Gold Souk section offers jewellery and the Level Shoes section offers a wide range of shoes. Dubai Mall is also ideal for family entertainment, offering the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the Dubai Ice Rink, the KidZania Education Centre for children and finishing off your day with a movie in a multiplex cinema.
The waterfall fountain (perhaps the most photographed area of the mall) and The Village section, where you can take a walk outdoors during the winter months thanks to the retractable roof, are particularly noteworthy. The mall building is directly connected to the five-star Address Dubai Mall hotel, which is unusually convenient for guests wishing to shop.
In 2019, the mall was expanded by almost 15,000 sq m with the opening of an additional building, Dubai Mall Zabeel. It houses many new restaurants and shops, as well as parking for 3,000 spaces. The buildings are connected by an air-conditioned covered pedestrian bridge.
